wooden veneer is a sliding drawer
Sometimes the best place to keep your “gems”, such as a passport, monies, or jewelry, are to keep them in plain sight. Yes, it goes against logic, but that’s the whole idea, since a would be thieves tend to dig through drawers, look behind paintings, and rip up the floor before they consider what surely are anything but hiding spots.
While we still love the door stash, and regard it as one of the best hiding spots for money, this shelf easily takes second place. It measures 1.3-inches thick, and hidden behind its wooden veneer is a sliding drawer that opens when the magnetic key is placed to the appropriate corner. It won’t be much good in the event of a fire, and it can’t hold more than a few thousand dollars in currency, but what it can do is stow away a passport, a few valuable jewels, and perhaps keys for that larger safe. And if that doesn’t pique your fancy, it seamlessly adheres to your wall and can display your favorite knick knacks, such as a bonsai tree or your collection of bobbling cat heads.
