Fiskars enjoy the benefit of modern technology

Wooden baseball bats are not just heavy, but when you finally make contact with the ball you’ll notice a fair bit of vibration as the wood doesn’t do much to dampen the blow. The same could be said for axes of a time past, and that’s why it’s quite astute of Fiskars to call their axes the aluminum baseball bats of the axe world.

There are a variety of sizes to choose from, but the 8-inch and 14-inch versions are looking the most tempting. Unlike your father’s axe, the Fiskars enjoy the benefit of modern technology. The handles are crafted from what is called a Stronger-than-steel FiberComp. It won’t break on an overstrike, and the PermaHead blade will never fly off – talk about a way to cut a camping trip short. Furthering that is a special coating on the blade that reduces friction. Compound that with a light weight handle that has been perfectly balanced to increase speed, power, and reduce vibration, and you’ll be hacking through logs (or Zombie legs) as if it were a hot knife through butter on a hot summer’s day. Sharpening will still be mandatory, bit Fiskars promises their axes will stay sharper longer.
