Saving Private Ryan (World War 2)
Saving Private Ryan is a drama set on and after the D-Day landings in World War 2. The story revolves around a group of soldiers, dispatched to rescue Private Ryan, whose three bothers have all been killed in action.
Whilst the story is interesting it is the battle scenes in this movie which really make it memorable. Saving Private Ryan begins with one of the most disturbing battle scenes ever filmed with the sound of bullets creating a terrifying atmosphere.
This is one movie I would suggest watching on as large a screen as possible with a surround sound system to fully appreciate the ferocity of the fighting.
The scene here is most of the opening D-Day landing scene.

Re: Saving Private Ryan (World War 2)
I suppose the amazing cinematography has a lot to do with it. I'm obsessed with cinematography. The killer sound design during the battle scenes also may have played a role. But looking at my rating structure, those aspects of a film only account for 3 out of ten stars - not a very big percentage.
