Preussen Münster looked BVB´s "weakest" opposition in the pre-season since the match against Erfurt on 18 July, but the Borussia Dortmund management had deliberately chosen the third division side as opponents as they had already played two competitive matches this season. And Preussen Münster showed their quality early on. Arriving too late to intercept a long pass from midfield, BVB goalkeeper Langerak brought down the on-rushing König, and Kühne stepped up to smash home the resulting penalty in the 12th minute to put the hosts in front.
