Smaller dog toys are meant for smaller dogs
Not all dog toys are created equally. Some may even harm your dog. It is important to know the potential dangers that certain toys may cause so you can make sure to pick the best toys for your dog to play with.
Basic Tips
The next time you are in the market for a new dog toy, keep the following general tips in mind:
1. Match the toy’s size to the dog’s size. Smaller dog toys are meant for smaller dogs. They could become choking hazards to a larger dog.
2. Make sure the toy has no smaller parts that could be removed or torn off of the toy, which would be a choking hazard.
3. If your dog is aggressive with toys, stay away from those with internal noise makers (squeeky toys) and those that could come apart at the seams.
4. Stay away from stringy toys or those with rubber bands, ribbons, or anything else that could come off and be eaten.
5. Realize that even toys that claim to be indestructible do not always live up to strong chewers. Thick rubbery toys tend to last the longest for large, strong chewers.
