How to Transfer Files From one PC to another PC
1
Locate all of the files that you want moved. Sometimes it’s easier to move them all if you consolidate them into one folder.
2
Plug your removable storage device into your PC. Make sure that the device you have selected has enough room for the files you are going to transfer. After plugging the device in, you will see a window pop up that says “removable media” with a drive letter assigned to it.
3
Click on “open folder to view files.” This will open up the drive in a separate window. Leave this window open for the time being.
4
Highlight all of the files that you want transferred from this PC and drag them over to the removable media. When you are finished, go ahead and close out the window that says “Removable Disk.”
5
Locate the icon on the bottom right side of the screen that has a green arrow over a little green square and double click on it. A window will open up that says “safely remove hardware” with a list of removable devices. Find your device on the list and double click on it. This will make sure that your PC is finished interacting with the storage device, so that no files get damaged when you remove the device from the PC.
6
Plug the removable storage device into the other PC. Open it using Steps 1 to 3.
7
Locate the files you wanted transferred on the removable storage, and drag them onto your PC hard drive.
