STUART PEARCE’S penalty nightmares came back to haunt him as he saw Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge miss with the kick that ended Team GB’s Olympic dreams. ‘Psycho’ was left in tears after missing a penalty for England in the World Cup semi-finals against Germany in 1990 and once again a spotkick blunder accounted for a British team in a major tournament. It was 4-4 when Sturridge stepped up, having seen Aaron Ramsey, Tom Cleverley, Craig Dawson and Ryan Giggs score. He tried to dummy the replacement keeper, Bumyoung Lee, but saw his shot saved.
