A petty cash book is a record of small value purchases usually controlled by imprest system. For the maintain small expenses in our organization it is necessary to entry in petty cash book. A petty cash book is generally maintained on a columnar basis a separate column being allotted for each type of expenditure. Petty cash was commonplace enough by the 19th century for 'petty cash books' to be so named.
