The movie is very over-the-top and campy, but that's kind of the point. Director George Miller had a low budget to work with and manages to take a fairly explosive script and turn it into a modest action picture. For as extravagant as the film is in terms of ideas and concepts, its visuals are rather basic - car chases, highway battles and explosions is about all you'll get: no special effects

It was the very rawness and budgetary constraints of this little flick that made it what it was. A new kind of action hero in a new kind of world! Gibson's laughably underpaid (though unavoidably so) contribution cannot be underestimated. He imbued Max with more than the script actually merited. An attitude perhaps that struck a chord with many office-desk (wannabe) vigilantes.

Well I have heard about this film somewhere before but haven't really watched it. It sounds like a good film to me though.. Well thank you so much for sharing that thread with us in this forum.
