Africa has also the largest desert in the world the desert of Sahara.It covers almost all of north Africa, one fifth of the land of Africa.To the south of Sahara is the grassland of savanna.

The Sahara stretches from the Red Sea, including parts of the Mediterranean coasts, to the outskirts of the Atlantic Ocean. To the south, it is delimited by the Sahel.
