Caloplaca obamae (Obama Lichen) Empty Caloplaca obamae (Obama Lichen)

The Obama lichen was named after, guessed it, President Barack Obama by University of California, Riverside, researcher Kerry Knudsen.

The lichen, which was discovered in 2007 on California's Santa Rosa island, is kind of orange and scaly and, in general, looks nothing like the 44th president.
