As far as carnivorous plants go, Nepenthes truncata and the other large pitcher plants really do take the cake. While other plant carnivores feed off typical spider bait, like insects, this one will eat rodents. That's right. This plant is big enough to trap and digest a mouse. How does it do it? With a large pitcher-shaped pocket that is the perfect size for a mouse to just fall into. At the bottom of the pitcher sits a bath of digestive enzymes. Luckily for most rodents, this plant is native only to the Philippines, where it grows on the island of Mindanao. You're safe for now, city rats.
