Enabling Windows File Sharing on an OS X Server
Enabling Windows File Sharing on an OS X Server
To file share with an OS X server, the same rules apply: you just have to enable Windows file sharing
in the server service and Windows users will be able to use the shares (with the proper authentication,
of course).
Note In addition to file sharing, the OS X server is a full-featured network server with the capability to do DNS,
DHCP, SLP, Web services, e-mail services, and print services to a number of different clients, including Windows.
1. Go to the Server Settings Utility, which is located either on the Dock (that quick launchtype
bar, usually located at the bottom of the desktop) or in the Utilities folder under
Applications.
2. At the prompt, authenticate with the administrative username and password.
3. When the Server Settings control strip appears (see Figure 15.65), click the Windows
button.
