Air is necessary for burning
Fix two candles on a table. Cover one burning candle with a big glass and another with the small glass. which candle burn for longer time notice. Obviously the candle with bigger glass will burn more time than other. This shows that the air is needed for burning. Since more oxygen is present inside the bigger glass the candle burn for more time.
