Reasons for high mortality rate in Nepal

One of the main reasons for high mortality rate is that four in five of childbirth in Nepal takes place at home in unhygienic conditions,most without any skilled health care providers.Even when women attend antenatal care in health centers,women especially from rural areas prefer to give birth at home,which is considered the safest place to deliver.Childbirth is generally regarded as a normal event,requiring no special preparation or treatment for the pregnant women.
